Why Choose a Scott’s Hotrods
1965-1970 Ford Mustang Chassis?
Transform your classic 1965-1970 Ford Mustang into a modern performance machine with a Scott’s Hotrods built-to-order Mustang chassis. Engineered specifically for first-generation Mustangs, every chassis is designed around your vehicle, drivetrain, wheel and tire combination, track width, desired ride height and intended use. Whether you’re building a comfortable street cruiser, modern restomod, aggressive Pro Touring Mustang or an all-out corner-carving street machine, Scott’s gives your classic Mustang the handling, strength, ride quality and confidence of a modern performance car.
Every Scott’s 1965-1970 Mustang Chassis features our proprietary Independent Front Suspension (IFS), heavy-duty Tubular Upper & Lower A-Arms, rack & pinion steering, equal-length Parallel 4-Bar rear suspension and a Moser Ford 9-inch rear end. Choose from premium Coilovers for responsive street and performance driving or Scott’s SuperSlam Airbag suspension for an ultra-low stance with adjustable ride height. Every chassis is 100% TIG welded and built-to-order specifically for your Mustang at our manufacturing facility in Knoxville, Tennessee.
This isn’t a universal frame modified to fit a Mustang. Scott’s engineers a complete chassis specifically for the 1965, 1966, 1967, 1968, 1969 and 1970 Ford Mustang, replacing outdated unibody suspension architecture with a rigid, modern foundation capable of supporting everything from a traditional Ford small-block to modern 5.0L Coyote, Godzilla, FE or high-horsepower performance drivetrain. When you want your classic Mustang to do more than just look good, start with a chassis engineered to make it perform.
1965-1970 Ford Mustang Chassis
Pro Touring & Restomod
Built for Coyote Swaps, Classic Ford Power & High-Horsepower Mustangs
Building a Coyote-swapped 1965-1970 Mustang? Keeping it traditional with a Windsor or FE? Scott’s Hotrods engineers your Mustang chassis around the drivetrain you actually plan to use. From classic 289, 302 and Windsor-based combinations to FE big-blocks, 427/428 powerplants and modern 5.0L Coyote engines, proper engine and transmission placement is considered during the chassis design process—not figured out after the chassis arrives.
That built-to-order approach allows Scott’s to properly account for engine placement, steering clearance, suspension geometry, exhaust routing, transmission fitment and overall vehicle stance. Whether you’re building a mild street Mustang or a high-horsepower Pro Touring machine, your drivetrain and chassis are designed to work together from the beginning.

How Does a Full Chassis Fit Under a Unibody Mustang?
The 1965-1970 Ford Mustang was originally built as a unibody vehicle, meaning it does not have a traditional full-length frame underneath the body. Instead, the factory floor structure, front frame rails, rear rails and body work together as the structural foundation of the car. Installing a Scott’s Hotrods full Mustang chassis changes that completely by giving the vehicle a true, rigid frame running from front to rear.
To install the Scott’s chassis, the Mustang’s original floor must be modified to provide clearance for the new frame rails. Our chassis rails are positioned just inside the factory rocker panels, allowing the body to sit properly over the new chassis while creating a strong full-length foundation beneath the car. This is not a simple bolt-in subframe connector or suspension upgrade—it is a true full-frame conversion that requires fabrication and floor modification during installation.
Once completed, the Mustang is no longer relying solely on its original unibody structure to support the suspension and drivetrain. The Scott’s chassis provides a rigid foundation for our Independent Front Suspension, rack & pinion steering, Parallel 4-Bar rear suspension, Moser Ford 9-inch rear end, engine and transmission mounts, and either Coilover or SuperSlam Airbag suspension. This is especially beneficial for high-horsepower, Coyote-swapped, Pro Touring and serious restomod Mustangs, where chassis rigidity, suspension geometry and the ability to properly put power to the pavement become increasingly important.
The result is the timeless body and character of a 1965, 1966, 1967, 1968, 1969 or 1970 Mustang sitting on a completely modern, purpose-built performance chassis. It requires more fabrication than simply replacing the factory suspension, but for builders looking for the strength, handling, adjustability and performance of a true full-frame Mustang, the transformation is well worth it.

A qualified professional mechanic or fabricator with the technical understanding of product function and installation procedures must install all Scott’s Hotrods products.
All Unibodied cars will require some floor modification to fit any type of full frame. Most of the time you are already going to have to modify your Transmission Tunnel to fit your new modern drivetrain. The chassis frame rails will run the perimeter just inside of your rocker panel. You can cut a slot in the floor to allow the frame rails to slide up and then you will just have to shape some metal to fill it back in.
We stand behind ALL of the parts we manufacture. Other parts that we do not manufacture such as brakes, steering racks, ball joints, brake flex lines, power steering lines, etc carry their own manufacturers warranties. We are not responsible for these items outside of their original warranty.
All of Scott’s Hotrods manufactured parts are guaranteed to be free of defects in materials & workmanship for the lifetime of the part. Scott’s Hotrods warranty is non-transferable.
