Why Replace the Factory Camaro Unibody
with a Full Chassis?
The 1967-1969 Chevrolet Camaro was originally built using unibody construction, with the front suspension and drivetrain supported by a removable front subframe rather than a traditional full-length frame. That design worked for a production Camaro in the late 1960s, but today’s restomod and Pro Touring builds can place substantially greater demands on the chassis through modern high-horsepower engines, larger brakes, wider tires and considerably higher cornering loads.
A Scott’s Hotrods full-frame Camaro chassis conversion creates a rigid foundation extending from the front suspension through the passenger compartment and rear suspension. Instead of relying on the original floor structure and separate front subframe to tie the car together, the Scott’s chassis integrates the front and rear suspension systems into one engineered platform.
For builders planning an LS-, LT-, small-block, big-block or other high-performance engine swap, the additional rigidity provides a far better foundation for putting modern horsepower to the pavement while improving suspension control and overall vehicle feel.
Built-to-Order Full Chassis for
the First-Generation Camaro
Transform your 1967, 1968 or 1969 Chevy Camaro with a Scott’s Hotrods complete first-generation Camaro chassis, engineered to replace the limitations of the original unibody platform with the strength, rigidity and performance of a modern full-frame chassis. Every Scott’s Camaro chassis is built to order around your specific car, engine, transmission, suspension configuration, desired ride height and intended use — whether you’re building a comfortable street cruiser, aggressive Pro Touring Camaro, high-horsepower restomod or a show car designed to sit on the ground.
Unlike a basic subframe replacement or bolt-on suspension upgrade, the Scott’s Hotrods 1967-1969 Camaro full chassis conversion provides a completely engineered foundation beneath the car. Our chassis combines Scott’s proprietary independent front suspension, rack-and-pinion steering, tubular control arms, a heavy-duty rear 4-bar suspension and a Moser rear end into one purpose-built platform. The result is a classic first-gen Camaro with dramatically improved chassis rigidity, handling, steering response, braking capability and overall road manners.

Engine & Transmission Options
Whether you’re keeping traditional Chevrolet power or building a modern drivetrain combination, your Camaro chassis can be configured around your selected engine and transmission before fabrication begins. Popular combinations include traditional small-block Chevy and big-block Chevy engines as well as modern GM LS and LT engine swaps.
Engine mounts, transmission placement and chassis clearances are addressed as part of the build specifications rather than treated as an afterthought. This allows Scott’s to build the chassis around the drivetrain package from the beginning and gives the builder a much cleaner foundation for the remainder of the Camaro build.

What Modifications Are Required to Install a Full Chassis
Under a First-Gen Camaro?
Converting a factory unibody 1967-1969 Camaro to a true full-frame chassis requires floor modifications. The Scott’s chassis is designed to place the frame rails beneath the vehicle while maintaining as much usable interior and seating space as practical.
Small pockets are required in the floor behind the front seats to provide clearance for the chassis rails, and portions of the original rear subframe structure must be modified for proper chassis clearance. Because every custom build can vary, final fitment and installation should be performed by an experienced professional fabricator.
A qualified professional mechanic or fabricator with the technical understanding of product function and installation procedures must install all Scott’s Hotrods products.
We stand behind ALL of the parts we manufacture. Other parts that we do not manufacture such as brakes, steering racks, ball joints, brake flex lines, power steering lines, etc carry their own manufacturer’s warranties. We are not responsible for these items outside of their original warranty.
All of Scott’s Hotrods manufactured parts are guaranteed to be free of defects in materials & workmanship for the lifetime of the part. Scott’s Hotrods Warranty is non-transferable.
More Than a Camaro Subframe — A True Full-Frame Conversion
A Scott’s Hotrods Camaro chassis is not simply a replacement front subframe, front clip or set of subframe connectors. It is a complete, vehicle-specific chassis engineered to provide a continuous structural foundation beneath the Camaro.
That distinction becomes increasingly important as horsepower, tire width and suspension capability increase. By integrating the Scott’s IFS and rear 4-bar suspension into the same chassis structure, suspension loads are transferred through a rigid, purpose-built frame rather than relying solely on the original Camaro unibody.
Mandrel Bent Chevrolet Camaro Coilover Chassis
Built Specifically for Your 1967, 1968 or 1969 Camaro
There is no one-size-fits-all Scott’s Camaro chassis. Every chassis is built specifically for the vehicle and the customer’s combination. Before fabrication, we account for the Camaro’s engine, transmission, suspension choice, desired stance, wheel and tire package, intended driving style and other build specifications.
Whether you’re building a 1967 Camaro Pro Touring car, a slammed 1968 Camaro restomod or a high-horsepower 1969 Camaro, the chassis is engineered around the finished vehicle rather than forcing the vehicle to conform to a generic frame.
Scott’s Hotrods builds each Camaro chassis in Knoxville, Tennessee using dedicated fabrication fixtures, American-made materials and 100% TIG-welded construction. From the mandrel-bent frame rails to the suspension mounting points, the chassis is manufactured as an integrated system designed specifically for the first-generation Camaro.
Scott’s Hotrods IFS — Not Mustang II
The front of every Scott’s Camaro chassis is built around Scott’s proprietary independent front suspension — not a Mustang II suspension system. The geometry, crossmember, control arms and mounting points are engineered as part of the complete Scott’s chassis rather than adapting a universal suspension design to the Camaro.
Heavy-duty 1-1/8″ x .250-wall DOM tubular upper and lower control arms, built-in anti-dive geometry, oversized serviceable ball joints, forged steel spindles and rack-and-pinion steering provide the foundation for modern steering and suspension performance. The one-piece IFS crossmember is constructed from heavy-duty 2″ x 4″ x 3/16″ wall tubing and integrated directly into the chassis.
Coilover Camaro Chassis
For street cruisers, performance builds and serious Pro Touring Camaros, the Scott’s coilover chassis provides modern suspension control while allowing the vehicle to be built around the customer’s desired static ride height. Adjustable coilover options allow the suspension to be tailored to everything from comfortable street driving to aggressive performance use.
SuperSlam Camaro Chassis
For builders who want their first-gen Camaro extremely low or capable of laying frame, the Scott’s SuperSlam chassis is engineered around an air suspension configuration from the beginning. Rather than simply replacing coilovers with airbags, the chassis is built around the required suspension geometry and intended ride height.

Build Your First-Generation Camaro on a Better Foundation
Your 1967-1969 Chevy Camaro deserves more than a collection of bolt-on suspension upgrades attached to a nearly 60-year-old platform. A Scott’s Hotrods full Camaro chassis gives your build a completely engineered foundation designed around modern horsepower, modern brakes, modern suspension performance and the exact stance you want.
From a comfortable 1967 Camaro street cruiser to a hard-driven 1968 Camaro Pro Touring build or a 1969 Camaro restomod with four-digit horsepower, every Scott’s chassis is built specifically for the vehicle it will live under. Choose coilovers for performance and precise suspension control or step up to a SuperSlam airbag chassis when the goal is an ultra-low stance without sacrificing the engineering behind the suspension.
100% TIG welded, built from American-made materials and manufactured in Knoxville, Tennessee, your Scott’s Hotrods Camaro chassis is built to become the foundation of the entire project — not simply another component bolted onto it.
